Oh Baby!

I couldn't wait to share this card with you all.  This card was for a Baby Shower that I attended last week and it gave me the chance to use two of my stamp sets that I love but hadn't really used!  Baby We've Grown and Hardwood.  Two fantastic sets in the Occasions Catalogue!

So without any further delay, lets see!

Lots to talk about for this card.  I've stamped the Hardwood stamp over a piece of Very Vanilla CS.  I distressed the edges with a pair of scissors and then sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink!

I've then made my little banner, using ribbon, banners cut with the Banner punch and gorgeous little shoes!  I've used some packing twine that I had in my stash to make the banner and added a multiple-looped bow on one corner.

I've stamped the shoes with Soft Suede ink and coloured with Blushing Bride ink.  So cute.  I've added Blushing Bride ribbon next to the shoes, highlighted with a little pearl.

I stamped my little greeting - Oh Baby, and then added a few gold sequins.  So cute and I'm really happy how it turned out.  The card front was then adhered to a card base of Crumb Cake CS, the perfectly matched card base!!

So here's what I used:

Stamps: Hardwood & Baby We've Grown
Inks: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede & Blushing Bride
Papers: Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake CS
Accessories: twine, pink button, gold sequin trim, Blushing Bride chevron ribbon, pearls
Punches: Banner

I can't wait till I get to make the baby card!!  Congrats V xx

A sharky tale

So this card is on it's way with me to Melbourne.  I'm heading to Melbourne tomorrow to attend Stampin' Up!s annual convention!  So it is with pleasure to bring this card I made for my nephew who celebrated his birthday last week.  Maybe it can even be hand-delivered!

I used a fair few bits and pieces for this one.  I also used my Cricut, using a few SVG files that I purchased from Miss Kate Cuttables.  So lets begin!

I cut the shark, from Marina Mist, Basic Black, Whisper White & Real Red CS.  Nice bright colours for a shark I thought.  I pieced him together and then adhered him to an oval cut from corrugated cardboard that I had in my stash for a one day use!

I die-cut a few waves from various scraps of DSP I had in my one-day box.  I also cut a number seven for the all important birthday!  Add a few black pearls for eyes, and my sharky shark was done!

I used a Whisper White card front, stamped Happy Birthday and then used Crumb Cake as the card base.  A perfect card for a seven year old boy, not too fussy, not too girly and maybe even a little bit cool!

So here's what I used:

Stamps: Express Yourself
Inks: Basic Black
Papers: Whisper White, Real Red, Basic Black & Marina Mist CS, corrugated cardboard
Accessories: black pearls
Cutters: Cricut and SVG files

Enjoy xx

Ready. Set. Send. Cards for a Cure

Almost all of us have family members, friends and neighbours who have been affected by breast cancer. This widespread disease has touched the lives of members of the Stampin' Up! family, and contributions to breast cancer research have been an important part of Stampin' Up!'s philanthropic outreach.

To that end, we are partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to offer the Ready. Set. Send. kit-a package of 10 handmade cards (five thank you and five birthday cards plus 10 envelopes) that retails for $19 (plus shipping and handling). Stampin' Up! will donate $10 to NBCF for each kit sold.

The Ready. Set. Send. kits are available on NBCF's website, as well as Stampin' Up!'s Online Store.

Sometimes

Sometimes, just sometimes you need to send a card.  And sometimes, you just need a plain card.  And by plain card, I mean no sentiment or occasion.

So it was with much pleasure I designed this card which can be used for any occasion!

I used Crumb Cake CS for this card, and used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to make the background.  I embossed all the splots, spots and splatters with pretty gold embossing powder.

This card has four layers all up of Crumb Cake, and I've used piercing as a feature around the top layer.  I also stamped my flower image using Versamark and then embossing with white.  Pretty!

The flower was from the Simple Stems stamp set.  Very cute!

Add some Pretty in Pink chevron ribbon and some twine.  The card is done.  So pretty too!

The perfect card for any occasion!

Happy Mother's Day

So yesterday I shared the Mother's Day swaps I had received from the Avid Inkers.  Today I can now share my Mother's Day swap!

I found a similar design somewhere, most likely on Pinterest and decided to try myself.  I used the Petite Petals stamp set and coordinating punch.  Winning combination already!

I started by stamping along a strip of Whisper White CS with the Petite Petals flower stamps.  I added some leaves for a little bit of interest and space filler too!

Over the top of this strip, I laid a second strip where I had punched three windows with the Ticket punch.  Let me tell you this was very fiddly!  Difficult to line up perfectly and as the Ticket Punch has a smaller punch-out on it as well, I had to make sure I didn't punch both out at the same time!

I added my Mother's Day sentiment (from the retired Occasional Greetings set), added a little flower or two popped up with dimensionals and highlighted with a sparkly gem of course.  These were stamped in Raspberry Ripple, Coastal Cabana and Summer Starfruit (sadly I forgot to take a photo of that one).

So Happy Mother's day to my mum and all the mums/mum-to-be's out there!

xx

Mother's Day prelude

I've been waiting a few weeks to share these projects with you!  All of these are card swaps I received at my last Avid Inkers meeting.  And the theme was Mother's Day.

This card uses pinks so beautifully.  I love the touch of lace and those little petite petals!

Designed by Annette McMillan
This card also uses embossing as a feature.  I love the bright flower too.

This gorgeous card features the Watercolour Wonder DSP.  Just beautiful!

Designed by Deb Fearns
This card is a very clever tag card, which features two little tags.

I love all the tags including the 'other side'!

Designed by Jess Hawkins
 The gorgeous tags:

This card has the most beautiful message, wouldn't you agree?

These are just some of my swaps.  I'll share my cards tomorrow and I have a Designer feature coming up too!

Little Box template

Well, I can't believe it was back in March when I shared my little boxes made with the envelope punch board.  I searched high and low for the instructions and the template that I used for it.

But alas, it wasn't to be.  So I decided to start from scratch and make the little box and a template for it. And just so you know what little boxes I'm talking about, I mean these ones!

These boxes don't use much cardstock or paper at all.   Perfect for all those 6" squares you might have lying around!.

I used Marina Mist DSP with a little tag cut from Very Vanilla CS and Crumb Cake seam binding.  Such a pretty combination.

The template can be downloaded here.  Just right click and save to your computer.

Paper Poppies

So last week it was Anzac Day, and that's a very significant day for Australians and New Zealanders.

It's a day where my family and I keep to traditions.  We made Anzac biscuits, had a technology ban and spent a quiet day together as a family.  Later that afternoon, my kids and I decided to do some craft together.  At the moment, it's all about the Rainbow Looms and the bracelets they make but I wanted to do something that identified as Australian and Anzac Day.

I adore the work of Lia Griffith. She does amazing creations with paper and she had a Poppy tutorial that I decided to follow.  Using her basic instructions, I pulled out my Stampin' Up! supplies and made poppies!

I used various punches, including circle punches and the blossom flower punches and adapted Lia's instructions to suit.  You can see from the petal detail, there was a bit of folding and snipping paper edges.  I love the new fringe scissors, makes it easy!

I used Strawberry Slush, Old Olive and Basic Black as my colours.  I didn't have any true red but love this colour!

I used my hot glue gun which made layering super easy.  You could always put a pin on the back and make a gorgeous little brooch.

Check out the work of Lia Griffith.  Maybe she can inspire you to make a flower or too!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Who is the target audience for this class?

A: Stampers will love it! The projects range from novice to advanced, and each new stamper can learn a lot from the class. There are even more advanced techniques that even experienced stampers will be excited to learn!

Q: How long will the class be available?
A: This class will only be available through 31 May.

Q: How do I purchase the class?
A: This class, valued at $15, is only available as a free gift when you purchase Show & Tell 1 & 2 stamp sets. Use item #138101 to get the bundle, which includes both stamp sets and the class.

Q: How do I share this class with my customers?
A: Download the flyer for an easy way to tell your customers about the bundle with the free class.

Q: Why would a customer want this class when there are so many technique videos available online?
A: This online class is much more than a card idea or a technique video. The projects are simple, creative, and cute! The material included is a great resource that gives comprehensive project details in one place, so stop searching all over the internet for the information! This class is being offered as an additional product (bundle item 138101) that a demonstrator can provide to customers as a commissionable resource. It is an exceptional value and gives customers an opportunity to be creative and participate at their own pace.

Q: Are supplies included or purchased separately?
A: Supplies are not included. Supply lists are included on the PDFs with each project.

Q: How do customers get the class materials?
A: Once the class is purchased, a customer needs to log into their online account and access the download the same way they would when ordering a digital download for MDS. The difference is that the file will be a PDF and will open in their default PDF reader rather than MDS.

Q: Can a demonstrator purchase the class and then give her participants/customers a copy of the instructions if the customer has not purchased the class? Are these copyrighted digital files?
A: The class is copyrighted. Only those who have purchased the bundle should have access to the printed or digital form of the files. We hope demonstrators see the value in this resource as a product, and see that it would actually be hurting their own potential sales to print out and give away copies.

Q: How should I promote this product?
A: Tell everyone about it right away! This class will be available now through 31 May. You can post about it on your Facebook page, post it to your blog, or e-mail everyone you know. A flyer is available to make this bundle easy to share with your customers. Don't underestimate how many of your customers are interested in something like this. It's a lot of information for free, and with no shipping involved, they can view the class and begin working on projects immediately! Make sure you take the opportunity to touch base with them later to see if they need any of the products featured to help complete the projects. You could even schedule a time to gather everyone who has purchased the bundle and make a few of the projects together!

Photopolymer Questions & Answers

Q. Will these stamp sets be available in the new catalogue?
A. No, these stamp sets are being featured as an early introduction to photopolymer stamps, and will not be available after 31 May.

Q. Why is Stampin' Up! offering photopolymer stamps now?
A. In the past, the photopolymers we've tested have been prone to yellowing, cracking, too-soft image stamping, and other problems. We are thrilled that we have finally found a photopolymer product that meets the high standard of quality that we require for Stampin' Up! products. We know you are going to find that our top-quality photopolymer was worth waiting for!

Q. How do I store the photopolymer stamps?
A. They come in a cello bag, between two sheets of acetate. One of the sheets is conveniently printed with the stamp images for storage. Our clear-mount cases work nicely to store them in if you prefer. Store them indoors-don't leave them sitting out in direct sunlight. Please note: The photopolymer sets in the upcoming annual 2014-2015 catalogue will come packaged in our clear mount stamp cases.

Q. How do I clean the photopolymer stamps?
A. Use your Stampin' Scrub and Stampin' Mist just as you would with any stamps. If they ever get dusty or lose their stickiness, you can wash them in mild soap and water. If you use them with Stazon, you can also use Stazon cleaner on them. Remember, use Stazon cleaner sparingly and make sure you do not leave traces of the cleaner on the stamps after cleaning.

Q. What kinds of ink can I use with photopolymer stamps?
A. Our classic ink in the firm foam pads is the absolute best choice. Versamark and Stazon are also OK. Make sure you clean your stamps promptly after use to avoid any staining or damage.

Q. Will the photopolymer stamps stain?
A. They are more prone to staining. Basic Gray and red inks seem to be the worst. Try to clean your stamps immediately after use to avoid staining.

New Stamp Range

Photopolymer Stamps are here!

We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it! We're excited to announce that with the release of the upcoming 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue, we will have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps. Our top-quality photopolymer stamps stick extremely well on our acrylic blocks, are durable, and the transparent nature of these sets makes it easier to line up your images without the need of a guide. This is a feature that is particularly helpful with alphabets, borders, and backgrounds! Photopolymer is clearly a great choice.

Will you want to wait until the catalogue comes out to try this great new product? Of course not!

So, beginning 1 May, we are introducing two exclusive photopolymer stamp sets: Show &; Tell 1, and Show & Tell 2. These great new photopolymer sets are designed to be used together. Even better, you can order both sets in a bundle that comes with an amazing online class-featuring tons of great project ideas using Show & Tell 1 and 2.
